Using Timeline to Create Dynamic Animation Sequences

This session will detail our approach to using timeline to author dynamic and interactive animation sequences in Unity. The new Timeline feature works great out of the box for creating linear sequences and has some excellent extensibility features. However it is lacking in creating truly dynamic animation sequences, that can vary at runtime with different objects and animations involved. We will detail our approach of using a custom pipeline and the Timeline API to split the overall animation in to multiple timeline assets that are then combined together to create a number of custom configurations to provide variety without a costly need for artists to duplicate work. Additionally we will discuss our approach to modifying these timelines by using the underlying Playables API at runtime to vary animations and objects displayed during the sequence to the player's current progress in the game.
