Destination Hyderabad

Welcome to the fastest growing metropolis in India!

Known as the City of Pearls and Cyberabad, Hyderabad is a major tourist destination in India. Established in 1591, it has grown to become one of the major metropolitan cities of the country, and currently serves as the twin capital of the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It is also known for its booming IT industry, biopharmaceutical sector, and Tollywood – the Telugu film industry.

Hyderabad is located at an altitude of 1,607 feet or 536 metres above sea level. Winter temperatures range between a 22°C (72°F) and 12°C (54°F), so we recommend bringing a light sweater for the early mornings and late evenings.

The faculty from Education could relate to the power of AR/VR and numerous opportunities that exist. They could realize that the landscape of education and Ed-Tech is all set to change and the sooner they adapt to such changes the better it is. The Technology audience could get an overview of the multifaceted problems the AR/VR space of research faces and that there is something for everybody to explore. The developers from the school of animation and gaming could appreciate the workflow of design for Ed tech areas in AR/VR spaces. How the actors and activities change and so would their importance when developing games for learning. What is the thin line between simulations, immersive, virtual and augmented experiences and how the learning gain of the user can vary from application to application.

Surgical Strikes - Unity3D for Immersive Troop Training

Track: Military

This talk covers how detailed troop simulation exercise was carried out for Indian Army Design Bureau by Threye Inc. The end objective was to give a soldier complete exposure to a terrain he has never set foot into. The exercise involved mapping a 50 Acre area using Drones to capture depth data and photogrammetry resulting in terrain data that was 30times more detailed that Google Earth. Subsequently, the terrain data was loaded in Unity3D, and ported for Virtual Reality. The exercise was put to test by the Army, and showcased in SemSim - Seminar on Simulation, organised by CII and Army Design Bureau as use case for LVC: Live-virtual-constructive training, which will combine live operations, with virtual entities via use of AR/VR and XR techniques.
The underlying technology and toolset is now being jointly explored by the Army, Air Force and Navy, for immersive troop simulation and training, including joint/networked combat mock exercises prior to setting foot in a real area.

Modern game Development with Microsoft

Track: Sponsor

The Universal Windows Platform (or UWP) was created so that developers of all types could build their software for every platform that Microsoft creates. The great news is that this means that game developers can use one common codebase and create games for Windows 10, Xbox One, and mixed reality (including HoloLens)! Features like Xbox Live Creators Program, Game Mode, and Mixer add additional rich features that can take your game to the next level. Dream up great ideas, and build them with Unity and UWP, so that people can play them on the platform of their choice. This talk will give you the insight into how UWP has evolved and how it all helps you build great games, as well as cover how the Windows Store can be used to maximize your monetization potential, and what the Dream.Build.Play 2017 Challenge is all about.

Building the Decentralized, Gaze-Based Metaverse Economy: Currency, Contracts and Virtual World Proliferation with the Gaze Coin Blockchain

Track: Sponsor

In this talk, Gaze Coin founder/CEO Jonny Peters explores blockchain currency and contracts as a function of building, monetizing and networking the metaverse. He will present the hypothesis that the decentralized, immutable and secure nature of blockchain is the perfect infrastructural fit for proliferating virtual and augmented reality experiences, environments and worlds. This is because blockchain currency and contracts provide material incentive for three key stakeholder groups: content owners, advertisers and users. The Gaze Coin blockchain securely stores ownership and transaction data about content assets in VR/AR based on authentic immersive engagement (gaze control and eye tracking), then manages micropayments based on said engagement to the appropriate parties. By integrating VR/AR with blockchain in this way, Gaze Coin solves the monetization challenges of VR/AR content, indeed the monetization challenges of the metaverse itself, as advertisers continue away from click-based measurement ill-fitted for immersive content.

A user might easily engage with ten pieces of content during a brief visit to a virtual world, meaning there could effectively be tens of thousands of transactions to record, track and make micropayments against. Moreover, as content is augmented or altered, it is challenging to accurately attribute credit and payments to owners/creators and the massive amount of transactional participants adds to the complexity. Connecting content owners (devs, world builders, creators), advertisers and users with Gaze Coin blockchain currency and contracts will give the ecosystem the necessary boost to proliferate. Accurately calculated and accessible engagement-based transactional data, together with precise exchange and payment mechanisms, is the VR/AR business model holy grail; an engine that funds the expansion of content and elevates the synergy between the three stakeholder groups:
• Advertisers are incentivized to place ads/branded content by growing user reach/engagement,
• Content owners are incentivized to provide quality content by advertiser patronage and growing user reach/engagement,
• Users are incentivized by content owner rewards and quality content, resulting in larger reach and engagement that advertiser wants.

Currency is one of the fundamental unifiers of human culture in the real world and, founded on blockchain, will remain a constant in the virtual worlds of the future.
